Nuri is a brand of Conserveira Pinhais & Co. from Matosinhos, north of Porto. Here they proudly remain true to the traditional production method. Everything is done manually, very carefully in many steps. The quality and taste of the canned sardines stands for itself. Everything is super fresh, pleasant smell. Pinhais buys fresh sardines and fresh ingredients every day: carrots, piri-piri, bay leaves, pepper etc...
The sardines are steam cooked to end up with less fat. They are then canned with a good olive oil from Tràs-os-Montes and individually wrapped by hand.
Pinhais celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020 and to mark the occasion opened the first and only sardine museum in Portugal.
We've been there before, it's worth a visit.
