For lovers and connoisseurs of the pure, pure, spicy tomato taste.

3 to 4 medium juicy fleshy Portuguese sardines in a good one fruity, medium-hot, homemade tomato sauce with piri-piri and good olive oil with a pinch of salt. A rustic and authentic preserve with beautifully aromatic and fatty sardines.

Enjoying these sardines will make you feel as if you were in the port of Porto... Delicious hand-made sardines in Portugal, ideal for an original appetizer or tapas!

Nuri is a brand of Conserveira Pinhais & Co. from Matosinhos, north of Porto. Here one remains with a lot of pride, true to the traditional production method. Everything is done manually, very carefully in many work steps. The quality and taste of the canned sardines speaks for itself. Everything fresh, pleasant smell. Pinhais buys fresh sardines every day and fresh ingredients: carrots, piri-piri, laurel, pepper etc...
The sardines are steamed to get less fat at the end. They are then canned with a good olive oil from Tràs-os-Montes and individually wrapped by hand.
Pinhais celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020 and on this occasion opened the first & only sardine museum in Portugal.
We've been there before, it's worth a visit.

Hersteller

The Conserveira "Pinhais" is a family business that was founded in 1920 in the small fishing village of Matosinhos near Porto. Today, almost 100 years later, the company is still family-owned under the leadership of Dr. Antonio Pinhal and is one of the most renowned canned fish manufacturers in the country.
True to the company motto "quality over quantity", Pinhais & Co. Ltd. still worked using traditional methods, with very little done by machines and most of the work done by hand, which is a rarity today. The olive oil is of very good quality as the Pinhais have their own olive grove in Trás-os-Montes.

Details

Even the ancient Romans valued sardines and ate them salted, marinated or smoked. To this day, the sardine is and will remain a high-quality product if the quality and production methods are right.

Thanks to their short lifespan, they have absorbed very few pollutants from the sea and have a high proportion of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and trace elements. 100g of sardines (about 8 fish) contain 40% of the recommended daily dose of calcium and 100% of the vitamin D necessary to absorb the trace elements. In order for the human body to be able to absorb all of these valuable nutrients, it is essential that the sardine is preserved in high-quality olive oil, because only this oil allows the human body to break it down and metabolize it.

For the sake of enjoyment, however, you should definitely not do without the many other great creations from the incomparably rich range of flavors of canned sardines: sardines in a fruity sauce, in white wine, in butter, with water and lemon... try it out!
